Lodge leader is a seasonal, full-time member of the Camp Gallagher summer staff. The lodge leader is the primary caregiver for campers and is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities to guide campers in their experience, personal growth, and development of skills.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver a fun, outcomes-based tripping program that is appropriate to the age and ability of campers, including:

  • assessing abilities of campers and staff environmental factors and adapting activities and instruction as needed

  • teaching the skills necessary for a fun and safe trip before leaving the camp site and throughout the trip experience, including teaching personal and group health and safe, camp craft, small craft techniques, maintenance and care of equipment, emergency procedures, etc.

  • meeting with the camp nurse before and after trips to monitor camper health

  • planning itineraries in consultation with a camp director before leaving for each trip

  • working with other staff and campers to pack and load all necessary equipment, food, and water into vehicles/vessels,
